Yorkies Party

We expect the Yorkies to make the long journey to Somerset, to our Summer Party, every year. So, it only seemed right that when they had a party the Scrumpies should make an effort and go to Yorkshire. So the Few, but Happy Faithful made their way t’north.

We made a day of the journey up by stopping off at Merlin Archery in Loughborough and then finding a good place for lunch. We got to venue, tents up, and we were ready to enjoy what was to come.

What was to come was Mr B with a strange shaped drinking vessel which some agreed to try far too readily.

Mind you Joan did not seem too keen. In the end Becks felt that maybe it was not a good idea.

Both Maria’s were there. Mind you these days, as they both get older, it’s difficult to tell them apart.

Saturday

The Scrumpies went ‘on mass’ to York and as usual Becks needed a telling off – you know how excited he can get. He seems used to physical punishment.

We asked for direction to York Minster and a kind local pointed the way.

Or he could have been telling us which was to escape from the very noisy people dressed in English National Costume.

We found The Minster just as the Scrumpies had left it all those years ago when we had visited before continuing on to Scotland.

Mind you all we needed to do was follow the music!

A tour on The Minster, shopping in York, and a good lunch meant we were ready for the evening. It’s amazing how far some people will travel to have a good time. Across the country is one thing but from world to world seems a bit excessive.

The sun started to settle over the camp site.

As the sum fell below the horizon the Scrumpies were ready to party. The women dressed in ‘onesies’ while the men decided it was not for them. However, to keep in with the party spirit we settled on Hawaiian shirts.

A good time was had by all with good friends from the Scrumpies and other centre’s. The VSOC membership as a whole seems more to be a very big family, because let’s face it, in this day and age where you have to so careful what you say and do, where else would you get away with this.

As always there is a story behind the picture.

Thanks to the Yorkies for showing us a good time and making everyone welcome.

Take care
