Muchelney Spring Gathering 14th/15th May Scrumpies go back to the future. Yet again we met in fine weather, most of us, (Clive, Grasshopper, Calley, Cheryl, Nigel, Mary, Kate, Myself and Clive's mate Steve). at Somerset's meet venue, Banwell Garden Centre for Breakfast. We set of at 11.00 (Clive time) for what turned out to be a very enjoyable ride to Muchelney, which included a good long stretch of road with the type of bends you just love to gently bank through. Arriving at the site we were met by Phil and Mandi, who had come direct, and shortly after by Wiltshire's Neil, Dave AJ and Joan. And finally Sue arrived with Clive's bed. (I'm sure there is not enough room in a 'Bambi' for more than 1) The original plan was to set up camp and go for a ride....... Well we did!, we took a ride to Tescos to get the required food and drink, brought it back, and started to drink it.

Later in the afternoon after a few ciders
etc, most of us walked over to the Abbey ruins and Church (to see the ceiling)

Back at the tents, Grasshopper decided he
hadn't bought enough beer, so before he had too much, went out to get some more,
it looked like it was going to be a good evening. After much chat and joking it was time to get the 'Barbie' going. Steve got it lit, then Grasshopper put it out. We all mucked in and eventually got it lit again, and the food was cooking. Luckily it was cooking quite slowly, this left more time for drinking. |

The covered area was great, and would have
been very handy if it had rained. Although we didn't need to, we fully used it for eating, drinking and dancing (music supplied by Clive) |

Everyone enjoyed this one nighter, it was
very reminiscent of those weekends at the Doublelocks in the past. Maybe in the future we will do some more. Well done Clive, excellent event! Dave |
