Mansel Lacy 2010
Well, this year’s weather was considerably better than last years. This time last year the rain was so persistent that it was not possible to see your hand in front of your face. This year it was different.
We sat outside most on the evening because the weather was so good - even Dennis the Menace turned up.
However, later on the excitement was too much for both of the children and forty winks was needed. |
After they had both had a good night’s sleep both of The Twins were ready to get up to their old tricks again.
Obviously the Scrumpies were present.
As was the Mini Club and the Land Rover Club
The old American cars were there as well. When the Ped’s arrived we went over to thank them for turning up as up to that point we had no one to fight with! Well, that’s not quite true. The previous evening the Land Rover Club challenged the Scrumpies to a tug of war. When you look at the teams you just know who won.
So who won – the old or the young? Well, it was the old – why – well it could be down to our latest member: Cally joined this weekend which added youth to the Scrumpies side, also everyone standing around joined in to help us.
On the Sunday the races took place most people congregated around the chicane as this was the best place to see any crashes.
We had planned to put a cart in ourselves in the novelty class but as we were let down by a parts supplier we didn’t this year – next year however........... This meant that there was only one novelty cart there: The Dalek was back!
Mind you, even the Hardly Movingson club turned up.
Some of the clubs did a drive past down the track – led in both directions by the Scrumpies. It felt great to go up and down the track without helmets. A great time was had by all, we were made very welcome, and we will be back again next year. Hope to see you there. AJ
