Jumpstart 2014

It’s difficult to believe that there is any party but the Scrumpies Party.  But, there is. The Jumpstart has been around for a few years and Pat and I thought that we should give it a try.

So we headed north on Friday afternoon in the car.  I know, I know. Let’s get this straight, it’s a party so, whatever! I also admit that we stayed in a hotel. Good call as it turns out because the rain was torrential.

We arrived at a small clubhouse with a damp crew in a gazebo to welcome us.  The hardy partygoers were camped outside, just alongside the motorhome park.  We walked in to the clubhouse to find that the room was decorated with sleeping bags drying on radiators.  Ears were assailed by the loudest rock disco ever.

As with any club event there were welcomes and people wanting to chat before we even got to the bar.

Looked in vain for other Scrumpies but my eye sight is getting worse.  Good bar prices and very reasonable priced menu. Food also served later on in the clubhouse so no need to visit a burger van in the rain.  The DJ really knew his trade and kept the dance floor full all night, a neat trick considering it was all rock based.  A great night ended with a mile walk back to the hotel to get that much needed fresh air.

Saturday, and a chance for sightseeing.  So Pat and I went to Liverpool, I needed to go shopping!  Interesting women in Liverpool, lots of them were wearing hair curlers while out shopping.  Very odd.  Did the tourist bit and visited the Cavern Club.  Fantastic history and definitely a pivotal venue in british rock history.

Back to the clubhouse and the very loud disco again. The sound level was surpassed by the very very loud band later on.  These boys played the Wirral rally last year, the one where many of us found it easier to listen to them from outside the clubhouse.

Another brilliant night, could hardly manage to walk back to the hotel.

Returned home on Sunday and went to bed with ears still ringing from the music but tired and happy.

Thanks to the North Stars for a warm welcome and a wonderful party.  We’ll be back.

Bunch.
