'HOG THE BRIDGE'

16th October 2011

Your new Somerset County rep decided he would like to do a ride out and join the Harley riders, (plus ever so many others, on a ride across the bridge and onto welsh territory.

Well, in true Somerset time (famous for being late) this decision was made  about 5days before the meet.

Poor Arch thought Dave said he’d email everybody, so we waited, and waited, and  waited, I said you sure he said he’d email everybody? and not you to do it? No, he said he would, came back the reply.

Thursday I think it was, I said you’d better ring Dave,

couldn’t get hold of him could he.

Anyway, Dave rang Arch back on Friday, sorry mate I couldn’t  take your call I was in a paintin class, say no more Dave!

Any way so’s we finds out who looks at the website don’t we? No body!! Well there was one,

Cus we turns up at Banwell for 9.20 to find we let ourselves in and goes to the cafe to find Joul’s having her first cup of coffee before the rush.

Then Linda turns up hoping for a trusty steed,  good for Linda, she reads the website..

Ten minutes later Steve and Mary turn up on their four wheeler (they had family staying).

We all had a coffee then ten o’clock  struck so we were off, ‘stands up’ Arch. Myself, a would be associate (my big sis) and her fella from Manchester way who stayed an extra day in Somerset to join us.

The weather stayed dry and we got there as planned at 10.45am, met up with a few mates, Sampson from Frome, Cheryl our events organiser, (well Arch talked to her on the phone but they couldn’t see each other waving at each other across the crowd), plus a few other friends from other areas.

Stands up began at 11:00 as planned, I suppose we pulled out at about just after 11.30 well timed really, cus as we drove out of the car park and down the road to the first roundabout, where did they stop the queue , yes at me and Arch, so in true Scrumpy style, there was then two Somerset Scrumpie’s leading, yes, leading about 500 odd ‘Hog the Bridge’ supporters across the bridge and into welsh territory!!

We had about a seventeen mile ride ending up in Chepstow where we managed to catch up with Cheryl and bumped into a few Wiltshirens who chose to do their own ride out and gate crash Chepstow.

All in all we had a good day out and a great ride.
