Bristol Bike Day

16th August 2014

Linda, Steve and I met at our usual place in Weston slightly ahead of schedule and left at 08.15 to meet up with Dave and Kate at Clevedon. Just a two minute stop just off the motorway and we all charged up the M5 to come off at Gordano and head in to Bristol along the A369 via Abbots Leigh, past Ashton Court and in to St. Nicholas Market and Corn Street. We found the rest of the gang had arrived just ahead of us and we quickly set up the banners and flags. The weather was good and the sun was out. Once set up breakfast was handy as we were directly outside a Wetherspoons, nice and handy!

Dave Rutley turned up traditionally late but managed to complete the lineup of sixteen bikes which took up both sides of the street. The day continued and many friends were seen from the past. Firstly Clive Baker called by to be followed by the likes of Eddy Coles, Denise and Stu Goodman, Phil Knight, Del Hickey to name but a few old friends. We also saw quite a few existing members to include Maz and Spatch, the Welsh Dragon, Malc Berryman and Ivor Edwards, our Somerset rep. Apologies if I have missed anybody out but it was quite a busy day with lots to see.

As the sun lowered in the sky it did get a little chilly after the glorious summer we have had. So come around four in the afternoon the organizers came round and gave permission to clean down. The banners and flags got packed away ready for another day and we headed back to Weston down the A370 before the rain started and we just got back in the dry.

May I say a big thanks to all those who gave up their time to put on a good show of bikes and both the trikes including Blacky were there.

A great day out seeing lots of friends, chilling and talking amongst good mates.
