Somerset Meeting and Run
Sunday 20th July 2014
I was the first to arrive and open the gate closely followed by Blacky on the trike with chief mechanic Neil in close attendance. Apparently all is well now, just putting out a bit of smoke on overrun! He looked so pleased to be on three wheels and can afford the oil as needed for the rest of the season!
Breakfast was ordered and gradually more arrived with food in mind and as the sun was out, eating al fresco was the order of the day. A total of twenty one and two dogs attended! Ivor took a quick meeting to discuss the forthcoming Rally and The Scrumpy Party. Blacky told the story of the stolen German plaque so a picture was taken of its grand tour of the UK.
As everybody was enjoying the sun we were later than usual going for a ride but then Clive suggested exploring a potential new site for a one nighter. So off we went with Clive and Sue in the lead closely followed by Linda and Ivor with Silvia pillion and me as tail ender. A quick blat through Sandford and on to Churchill crossroads and straight across to Blagdon, through West Harptree and on to Bishop Sutton with a quick left turn down Ham Lane. Right along Bonhill Road and the farm is on the left called Green Acres. The site is a bit basic compared to Muchelney but a nice quiet area of grass in the second field which could be good for a one nighter.
We all agreed as it was so hot that this was enough of a ride today so out to the main road and back to Weston. A nice little ride of some forty miles in fantastic weather and good company.
