Easter Monday 6th April 2015
As I start to write this report it occurs to me, how odd to write about an event that I have organised. So let’s keep this short; the Scrumpies stand was well organised and the sun shone, a brilliant day!
Maybe I’m biased so here’s a better write up.
It was agreed that the Glossies would organise attendance at Coleford as a recruitment drive for new members. So we booked a stand. Teamwork made things happen. With brilliant support from the Scrumpies we had twelve bikes on show covering most models.
The Wiltshire ride-out passed through Coleford and dropped off Blacky, Becks and Neil who were staying overnight at the Angel Hotel. Kev and Steve from Dorset and Linda from Somerset made up the overnight party. But first a ride-out, destination being the secure overnight parking 100 yards away. I know that the one-way street may appear to be an excuse but the two mile circular ride was necessary, really. Apparently, this is the shortest ride-out in the Scrumpies history. Result!
Magic was on site at 07.15 on Monday to help erect the stand. Great effort as he didn’t know that a day could start that early and was drinking whisky at midnight. Not too many sore heads in the morning as the overnighters arrived to clear the ice from the bikes and get them to our stand nearby.
Our stand was near to a motorbike shop with plenty of new and used machines for sale but we all resisted temptation. Not sure if we all resisted the auto-jumble and trade stalls though.
500 vehicles drew the crowds on a really sunny Bank Holiday. We had a lot of interest in the bikes and several possible new members stayed for a chat.
Members from every area within the Scrumpies had bikes on our stand. Many others visited during the day. Thanks to everyone who supported this event in any way, it’s really appreciated.
If you missed it, then keep an eye on the Scrumpies website events page. I believe that the hotel has been reserved for 2016 and the Carnival wants us back.
Wishing you a great season,
Bunch.
