Sammy Miller Museum

Sunday 13th April 2014

Magic's version

Sunday has arrived and what a glorious day! 9.30am and I better hurry up and get down to Tesco's Blandford, we've got guests arriving at 9.45am to the Dorset meet. Will be a novelty to see more than 3 people there! 9.50am and Kev rings, waiting at Upton cafe, "are they there yet?" What do you think!

10.20am arrives and, so do our 5 intrepid explorers from 'up North'. Apparently, after stopping at Shepton Mallet, Magic thought it might be a good idea to do one of his impromptu 'magical mystery tours'. That's Linda's excuse and she was sticking with it! Magic muttered something about riding like a girl........

After a light breakfast for myself, and some large ones for everyone else, we set off from Upton Cafe. But not before Linda tried on everyone's bike for size, eventually settling for her own, which was a relief, after coming out with the statement "I quite like the Harley.............." Why??? Merv didn't ride with us to Sammy Millers and went home after the meet. Something mechanical I'm led to believe! And then there were 7! (magnificent anyone?) We eventually made it to Sammy Millers with no further mishaps, or so I thought!

15 minutes from the museum and in the middle of Bournemouth, Kev decided, after 3 laps of honour of the local roundabout, to disappear on his own ride about for 10 minutes, leaving 6 perplexed riders looking at each other parked on the side of the dual carriageway (I should know better!) So from Tail Gunner (no pun intended) to Route Master I continued to lead the group, only for Kev to turn up. Something about traffic. On a bike. Really. All change again and Kev gets us there.

Magic, Kev, Linda,(hogging the limelight) Steve R, Nigel, Mark, (relegated to the shadows) and Steve D found something more interesting to look at!

A quick game of 'spot the qualifying bike!' Steve D reckons he's found it, Kev and Linda are adamant they've got it, Magic thinks he's looking at it, and that smile from Mark because he knows he's onto a winner!

Magic's convinced there's one around here somewhere! Must be the cloths horse in the way Magic.

Anyway, a trip to a museum wouldn't be complete without the obligatory museum photographs taken by Magic. "I'll send them to you Steve for the write up!" They must be coming the same way as your mystery tour then.

The ride back went via Bournemouth Sports Club to check out the 2015 Rally site. Again Kev led, after receiving some inside information about a local cycling competition from the New Forest completely ignoring the Highway Code. What is it about cyclists that can be just so annoying?

After the stop, chat, break and general look around at the site, it was time for everyone to depart. The 'Northerners' departed North leaving the Dorset locals to fend for themselves!

Finally, what write up wouldn't be complete without a gratuitous selfy of myself, (on the new Warrior), only problem is my arms aren't long enough!

 Linda, could you............
