Cheddar with the Vultures

Meticulous Planning

That’s what it took to put the next rideout together, but not on my part, I just hijacked the Vultures rideout to Cheddar. All I needed to know was what time they were passing through Marlborough and no more. Not so easy for Badger though, he was taking them cross-country from Chievely to Cheddar. This is straightforward when you live in the area but not when you don’t. He had planned the whole route on computer and then uploaded it onto his Sat Nav, leaving him to enjoy the ride and drop the markers. As Phil Halling only lives 30 mins from Chievely he joined in right at the start whilst 10 of us rode up to Marlborough. In all 25 of us left Marlborough High Street and picked up a further 5 in Somerset. The whole ride ran like clockwork and the pack never got broken up, inspite of all the junctions and roundabouts that we crossed.

We went straight to the Riverside Inn and parked in their carpark, well I use the term loosely. We actually shoehorned bikes in to every little space and then waited for a few cars to leave before packing bikes into those spaces,

We only waited about 15 mins in all, so it was no problem. After a couple of hours lunch was over and the obligatory ice cream eaten, it was time to go and we rode with them as far as Frome. Our last leg took us to the Lock Inn at Bradford on Avon for our last tea of the day, we’d now had 2 decent Sundays in a row, would it continue?
