Centre 9 Rally, Sleaford, Lincs

May 2011

The Bomber Bash.

Well, another season starts, and its off to the first rally. Not the easiest place in the country to get to, having to go diagonally across to the flat lands of Lincolnshire.

As usual, Kate & I set off about 1.00 on the Friday afternoon. As usual, when we got there the Thursday group were all set up and into their second crate of cider. As usual we got the tent up ASAP so that we could try to catch up.

I really enjoy the first rally, its a great time to meet up with all our friends from the other centres, that we haven't seen all winter. So that's what we did, and Friday night was taken up with loads and loads of talking, joking, drinking and in Kate's case, dancing.

Oh! I nearly forgot. Friday night was the night of the T - Shirt.

Just in case you can't read it, it says!

I survived the Scrumpies party last year.

Must try harder this year.

(That is a statement, and in no way could it be conceived as advertising)

Saturday was a day of rest for most, but Kate & I took a short ride to a village called Woodhall Spa. Not a big place but there was the memorial to the Dambusters.

It took me a while to realise it depicted the burst dam with the water rushing through. Duh!

There was also a little cafe that was cram packed to the rafters with Dambuster/Airforce memorabelia, and the little old lady that took our money, knocked £2 off, 'Because I like Bikers'

Back on the rally site, Saturday night was 'Bomber' night. Well done Dave and Neil. yet another great effort.

With lots of rain forecast for Monday, most of the scrumpies went home on the Sunday. Knowing how wrong the weather forecasts can be, Kate, myself, Andy, Pete & Mary and Phil stayed on.

The two of us joined the rideout to Lincoln, unfortunately the parking was on the top of the hill, piece of cake going down to see the sights, hell of a walk back up!

To keep us all awake ready for the evening, games had been arranged. There was Decking slalom, which the Scrumpy team lost dismally, as we found out after, because somebody was stood on our board.

And egg throwing which the Yorkies won. As ever they didn't gloat about their victory.

Phil made the classic mistake of telling Terry that this was his first rally.

*********RALLY VIRGIN ALERT!!!! *********

But he still ended up with a smile on his face.

Oh! and just to finish off, it did rain on Monday, all day, all the way down.
