The Peninsula Pilots Pirates Rally

August 2011

Dress up night was Saturday and The Twins came in their outfits –

We all looked at Neil with a questioning frown. He said – I thought that it was the Peninsula Pilots Rally!!!!!

Back to the beginning. Some of us arrived again on Thursday to set up the Dome and experiment on local libation ready for the rally start on the Friday.

As the weather was wet we stayed on site on the Friday – except for an external trip to a local public house for lunch.

During the day the Welsh arrived. Being used to wet weather they were ready with all mod cons. There was no way that their personal and private entertainment was going to be lost to the weather.

Socialising on the Friday night in the bar

There were a fair few Scrumpies on the Friday night but this was nothing compared to what happened on Saturday. At the last count there were in excess of 32 Scrumpies at the rally – it was a great sight to see. I tried to get photo’s of all so if I missed anyone my apologies:

Mev and Steve obviously wanted to look their best for the evening:

It is never compulsory to dress up on the Saturday night but quite a few people do.

We gathered at the Dome ready to make our way into the clubhouse.

Angie obviously had an emergency ‘trouser’ moment.

The tablets seem to be working for Pete. Bandit insisted on having the sunset shot. He says he looks younger with the sun behind him!!

The Scrumpies ladies did us proud –it’s what fishnet tights were made for.

I have to say that Archie got away with a lot that night. Pay attention to his hand in the picture.

Then the unexpected happened. I forced him to come to his 1st Scrumpies Party last year and he came to the Scrumpies Party this year with no pressure at all. And there he was. Shock and total pleasure rippled through the Scrumpy ranks. There was some concern though about his health:

Kev checked his vitals – I think he would have preferred if a woman had a hand on his vitals – but Shazza declined. Blacky however seemed to be in a total state of shock.

It was great to see two gold patches together at a rally – two Scrumpies of the Year.

It was enough to turn Sue to drink.

At about midnight between 30 to 40 Scrumpies got together in one part of the bar and the spontaneous singing session began. Why does Delilah always die in the 1st verse and not in the last?

Somewhere between 1 & 2 am we were asked to leave as they wished to lock up the bar – back to the Dome.

The Dome has not seen so much action with even floor space used for seating. There had to be at least 4 or 5 different Centres in the Dome that night all enjoying themselves.

I am not sure what happened here. We have Calley under Bandits legs with Grasshopper on top of Bandit with Joan hitting Bandit over the head with her flip-flop. I have no idea what was going on – you have to ask them.

And finally. A photo of our two youngest members who get stuck in and enjoy themselves with the rest of us.

I great rally, a great Scrumpies turn out. It was fantastic to have everyone there.

Hope to see you at the next one.

Take care

AJ
